Each year we try and attend one or two of the national hunting shows. One of our favorites is the Western Hunting Expo in Salt Lake City it is an awesome show and raises a pile of cash for the Mule Deer Foundation which is a bonus.
In 2017 we had plans, as usual, to attend and being honest had made a pact that we were going to keep our wallets in our pockets as these shows are jammed packed with all the latest and greatest gear not to mention some fabulous hunting opportunities so temptation is around every corner of every booth for hunting junkies like us.
First day of the show the first booth we stopped in happened to be Phoneskope. At this point in our hunting careers we had seen some of the different gadgets out in the market that attached a camera and/or your smartphone to your rifle scope and/or spotting scope but we were always skeptical of the benefits and honestly the quality of said gadgets, little did we know our glassing days were about to change and be taken to the next level. After a brief introduction to Phoneskopes products and a quick overview of the capabilities of a set up we were hooked and needless to say our pact was shattered.
The good news. A good set up from Phoneskope will not dent your wallet to bad and it is well worth it. This product will take your glassing to the next level. Two months later we were in Montana with Mikinzie (Troy¹sdaughter) glassing for spring bear, I could not believe what we could capture with this device, a Vortex spotting scope and, a simple smartphone. Just viewing your spotting scope thru a larger screen with both eyes is a bonus and a headache saver alone. If you have not tried one we highly recommend it.
